MODE MAPPING METHOD FOR H.264/AVC SPATIAL DOWN-SCALING TRANSCODING (WA-P5)

Abstract : Transcoding is an effective way for Universal Media Adaptation. Variable block-size motion compensation employed in AVC causes new problems for transcoding. This paper addresses new problems of spatial resolution down-scaling for AVC-compressed video streams. We propose a new technique to solve problems of variable block-size motion compensation without drift error. Experimental results show that this method is effective and efficient.
