Novel Frame Interpolation Method For Hold-Type Displays (TA-P3)

Abstract : Deterioration of motion picture quality due to hold-type displays is improved with a double-rate driving method. It is necessary to insert the middle frame according to the motion between frames in this method. In this paper, we create a middle frame using the frame interpolation technique by the motion estimation and the motion compensation. We investigated two kinds of frame interpolation method and proposed a hybrid method. Using this method, it was possible to reproduce high quality motion picture with less blurring.
