Automatic generation of pen-and-ink drawings from photos (TA-L1)

Abstract : In this paper, an automatic algorithm for generating pen-and-ink drawings from photos is presented. The basic processing step of our system is the edge extraction based on the multi-resolution property of Wavelet Transform. In order to enhance the variations in texture and tone, the algorithm includes two binarization steps and a noise removing step. Experimental results show that the generated pen-and-ink drawings are of high quality, which accurately illustrate the scenic contents of the original photos.
