Multi-resolution Parametric Region Tracking for 2D Object Replacement in Video (MP-P6)

Abstract : This paper presents a new parametric multi-resolution region tracking algorithm and applies the tracker to the task of object replacement in video sequences. Gradient based techniques are used to provide efficient parameter estimation at each frame. The tracking algorithm improves upon previous parametric algorithms by increasing the amount an object can move from frame to frame. Experimental results provide clear evidence of the improved performance over existing region tracking. An affine parameter version of the tracker is made use of for the purpose of surface replacement in video sequences. Encouraging results are obtained that are further improved by the use of low pass filtering.
