Abstract : Distributed coding problem poses the challenge of how to shift the exploitation of the correlation structure of source from encoder to decoder with minimal degradation on coding efficiency. In this paper, we study distributed coding of multispectral images where the correlation structure is relatively easy to model and analyze. We propose two distributed coding algorithms for symmetric and asymmetric cases respectively. Iterative reconstruction algorithms based on convex-set theory are used to exploit the correlation among different spectral channels at the decoder. Experiment results have shown that the gap between the proposed distributed coder and the standard wavelet coder (e.g., JPEG2000) is around 2dB at the medium bit rate
