Abstract : In this paper we propose a novel framework for segmenting video on H.264/AVC standard, which is the newest emerged video compression standard. First, it exploits Intra prediction mode distribution information to characterize I frame. By calculating two adjacent I framesĄŻ similarity according to intra prediction mode histogram, the framework selects the potential GOPs to further detect, in which shot will change with great probability. Secondly, to find the shot boundary at frame accuracy, we make use of inter prediction mode of marcoblock. Since H.264/AVC provides more motion estimation modes information, it is difficult to manually tune multi thresholds simultaneously. In the proposed framework, HMMs are utilized. This method avoids tedious manually tuning parameters, and acquires encouraging performance. Experimental results show that the proposed framework is efficient and robust.
