Abstract : Morphological segmentation is based on the watershed transform : the contours are the watershed lines of the gradient of the image to segment. In a first phase a set of markers are placed within each object of interest ; in a second phase, the strongest contours separating the markers are detected. The present paper describes the resulting segmentation as the skeleton of influence of the markers for a particular lexicographic distance.
