Abstract

A relay strategy for Alamouti space-time coded transmissions is proposed. The relay structure is optimized to maximize the received SNR, while the receiver is still able to exploit the orthogonal structure of the code to ensure temporal and spatial diversity. The proposed scheme can have arbitrary number of relay nodes and it is shown that the power consumption per node is inversely proportional to the number of the relay nodes (N) for large enough N.
