Abstract

In Direct Sequence Optical Code Division Multiple Access system (DS-OCDMA), the principal limitation due to unipolar coding is the Multiple Access Interference (MAI). We study the performances of a Parallel Interference Cancellation receiver with a Hard Limiter (PIC+HL) to improve the PIC mitigation of the MAI. We develop the PIC+HL performances theoretical expression, which proves that the HL improves the PIC performances and permits to reduce the code length in order to fit the speed limitations of encoding and decoding hardware.
